Tomales Bay and Tule Elk Fascinating Facts:

  • Tomales Bay is about 15 miles long and one mile wide.
  • The average depth of the bay is 15 feet, but its deepest point is about 60 feet down.
  • The west side of Tomales Bay is part of the Point Reyes National Seashore and is covered by granite cliffs and pine forests. The eastern side of Tomales Bay is bordered by Highway 1. The towns of Marshall and Tomales are the social center for local ranchers, oyster farmers, and passersby.
