| Clothes:
Wear
something that's comfortable. It doesn't have
to be anything too fancy, though denim does tend
to be a bit uncomfortable if it gets even a little
bit wet. Nylon wind pants work great, as do biking
tights and lycra shirts and bottoms. Baggy sweatshirts
will tend to soak up water in the elbows so tighter
fitting shirts or T-shirts are best.
A lightweight pair of biking gloves is a good
idea for full day trips for folks with hands new
to kayaking. Baseball caps or visors are excellent
ideas for sunny days. For evening trips it is
a good idea to bring a wool hat that can cover
your ears and gloves if your hands tend to get
cold.
Feet: Getting in and out of kayaks requires
that your feet step in the water (sorry, no way
around it) so we recommend sandals or old tennies
with wool socks.
You
can store extra clothes, cameras or whatever in
the kayaks or leave items behind while you're
out kayaking. We can safely store items at our
Sausalito location or in our vehicle for away
trips.
For
Paddle the Gate, Angel Island Crossing, Coastal
Paddle and the Mendocino Weekend trips
Sea Trek will provide you with a wetsuit. You
can wear a bathing suit or shorts under the wetsuit.
All other trips do not require any special clothing.
Please bring an extra change of clothing for
after the trip for a more comfortable ride home.
You
may also wish to bring
- a
hat and sunglasses with retainers
- sunblock
- for
half day trips you may wish to bring a small
snack and a plastic water bottle with water
(lunch is provided on full-day trips).
- Camera.
Bring a zip-lock baggy for protection
- Biking
gloves (blister protection)
We'll
provide a kayaking windbreaker to keep your jacket
dry and salt-free. You can store clothes in the
kayak or leave them behind while you kayak.
P.S.
We hope you have an incredible experience. Gratuities
are not included in the trip costs, but customers
have asked us for some guidelines. If you want
to show your appreciation to the guides with a
tip. $5-10 per guest is the norm.
