On The Water

The mission of this project is to show the spectrum of relationships that people of color have with water. Many of the paddlers we met for this project were through Bearfish Productions, as well as Paddlesports Action Committee (PSAC), a BIPOC-led initiative that is in collaboration with the American Canoe Association (ACA). This project will be used in partnership with the PSAC initiative and distributed through their platform.

Episode 1: Fakhra

Fakhra Shah is from San Francisco and reflects with us as she celebrates her one year anniversary of her first time kayaking.

A Message from Sea Trek Cares

We are excited to partner with Bearfish Productions, Paddlesports Action Committee, and any other paddle sports company to promote paddling to people of color through the On The Water video series. Sea Trek offers classes, trips, memberships, and rentals for both kayaks and stand up paddleboards. Sea Trek believes kayaking is for everyone. Sea Trek’s mission is to help create a more sustainable, protected, and healthy San Francisco Bay by helping people of all ages and backgrounds have fun and enriching connections with the bay. Sea Trek’s years of experience has shown them that once people feel a deeper appreciation, personal connection, and even a sense of ownership with the bay they are more likely to want to learn more and take action to protect it.
