For over 40 years, Sea Trek has been a place where people deepen their connection to the Bay, to each other, and to their own sense of adventure. And because of YOU—our paddling community, members, partners, and friends—we’ve been able to transform that spirit of connection into real impact for kids who have historically had fewer pathways into the outdoors.
And that’s the heart of Sea Trek CARES™
Launched in 2017, Sea Trek CARES is our commitment to promoting access, stewardship, and connection. When people (of any age) feel the joy of floating across the water or lock eyes with a harbor seal for the first time, something shifts. That sense of connection and adventures creates lifelong stewards and builds self-confidence. And it’s working.
This year, we’ve had the honor of partnering with several phenomenal nonprofits and schools to widen the circle of who gets to experience the Bay.
OUSD 500: Halfway to Our Goal – Giving Tuesday Push!
Thanks to the incredible momentum of our community (especially those who turned out for our special OGO Paddle for a Purpose!), we are HALFWAY to our Giving Tuesday goal.
$24,950 raised of $50,000 goal
Between last year’s campaign and this one, 840 Oakland Unified School District students have already been able to get on the water. For many, it was their very first time exploring their own home waters.
But we’re not done yet.
We are working to raise $50,000 (or $100 per student) to cover the full cost of paddling and transportation for 500 more kids by the end of 2025.
This Giving Tuesday, help us close the gap. Give the gift of belonging, confidence, and adventure.
Donate today and make a lasting impact.

Forest & Tree Partnership: 130 Students and Counting
We’re thrilled to collaborate with Forest & Tree, whose deep commitment to outdoor equity mirrors our own.
This year alone, nearly 130 students will paddle with us through this partnership—part of Forest & Tree’s Outdoor Equity Program with ASCEND TK–8 and Education for Change Public Schools. Their work includes:
- 45+ overnight school-based trips over three years
- 600+ students and families getting meaningful time outdoors
- Family Forest Days, expanded learning outdoor field trips, and redwoods experiences
- Outdoor trip leadership and school garden initiatives
Together, we’re strengthening a pathway for Bay Area youth to feel safe, empowered, and excited outside.

MLK Middle School (Sausalito): 80 Students on the Bay
Our local partnership with MLK Middle School in Sausalito continues to flourish. This year, more than 80 students will experience a sense of independence, teamwork, and discovery on the water.
For many of them, it’s their first time seeing their own coastline from a kayak.
In the Spring, the 8th graders will join the special few that get the opportunity to kayak to Angel Island and campout under the stars. This will be our 3rd year providing this meaningful experience to our the graduating 8th graders at MLK.
Why This Matters
Every time we paddle with students who have never been on the water before, we’re reminded why Sea Trek CARES exists.
Exposure becomes confidence.
Confidence becomes stewardship.
Stewardship becomes community.
And thanks to you, this movement of care is growing. We truly can’t thank you enough for paddling with purpose alongside us.
We’re just getting started.
