Fine-tune your forward stroke with a single blade
Overview
This workshop is designed to help you fine-tune your forward stroke with a single blade, making it more efficient and intentional. We’ll help you bring awareness to small adjustments that can reduce energy loss and increase power and control.
On Land
- Paddle and board fitting, posture, and injury prevention
- Forward stroke tuning with a focus on timing, efficient muscle recruitment, and core engagement
- Discuss stance, foot placement, and knee softness to support rotation and balance
- Other elements may come up based on the group’s needs!
On the Water
- Practice stroke timing, power application, and recovery
- Explore bracing and directional control using body mechanics and paddle strokes
- Practice remounts and stability drills for confidence on the board
- Additional skills may be included depending on group experience and conditions

Surfskis are high performance sit-on-top kayaks designed for speed on open water, most commonly the ocean, although also well-suited to all bodies of water and recreational paddling. In this class we’ll practice all the basic strokes, review safety concerns, tides/currents and weather. Short kayak tour included.
