Horseshoe Bay – Fort Baker Coast Guard Station

for Paddle the Gate, SUP the Gate and Coastal Paddle trips

If you’re coming from the South (San Francisco):

  • After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, take the first exit: Alexander Ave / Sausalito.

  • Continue downhill for about 0.2 miles.

  • Turn left at the Fort Baker sign onto East Road.

If you’re coming from the North (Marin):

  • Just before the Golden Gate Bridge, take the last exit: Sausalito / Alexander Ave.

  • At the stop sign, turn right, passing under the freeway.

  • Continue downhill, then turn left at the Fort Baker sign onto East Road.

Once on East Road:

  • Follow East Road all the way downhill through Fort Baker.

  • When the road dead-ends, turn left toward the Bay.

  • Take the next left onto Sommerville Road.

  • You’ll pass the Coast Guard Station on your left. The parking area is on your right, directly along the waterfront next to the boat ramp.

🛠 Restrooms (port-a-potties) are located nearby along Moore Road, adjacent to the bay.

FROM DOWNTOWN SAUSALITO:

  • Follow Bridgeway south out of town.
  • Bridgeway turns into Second Street (pass the Golden Gate Market) and then Second Street turns into Alexander Avenue.
  • Follow Alexander Avenue uphill for a short while then take a right at the Fort Baker sign and onto East Road.
  • Follow this road until it dead ends and take a left to go towards the Bay.
  • Take another left onto Sommerville Rd. and you will pass the Coast Guard Station on your left and see the parking along the waterfront on your right.

Bathrooms (Port-a-Potties) are located alongside the bay on Moore Rd.
