- All kayaking equipment — or bring your own boat if you’d rather
- Lunch and refreshments on the dock after
- A short talk from OGO on the work your gift supports
Oakland Goes Outdoors (OGO) gets Oakland public school students onto the water, many for the first time in their lives. Last year alone, OGO ran 279 trips for nearly 6,400 students across 22 schools during the school year, and served another 1,000 students during summer programming, most of them Title I campuses where the majority of kids qualify for free or reduced meals. For a lot of these students, there are a lot of barriers to getting outside. Your gift removes those barriers.
Sea Trek has hosted over 1,200 students at our Alameda location for three years now, and the story is the same every time: students arriver nervous and unsure, two hours and many laughs later, that group is landing on the dock beaming with excitement, confidence, and awe for the environment they live in.
How Your Gift Adds Up
Your ticket is your gift. Here’s what it funds:
- $100: your seat, and a full first-time paddle experience for one Oakland student: transportation, gear, meals, and trained safety staff for the day
- $200 — your seat, doubled: fund your own day on the water and send a second student out with OGO
- $500 — five students on the water
- $1,000 — ten students on the water
- $3,500 — an entire class, sponsored
