The Oakland Goes Outdoors On The Water Project

Help Oakland Students Discover the Water!

Want to do something wonderful with us?

Donate to sponsor an Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) student’s very first paddle!

Sea Trek has hosted over 1,200 students at our Alameda location since our partnership with Oakland Goes Outdoors began. Again and again, students arrive nervous and unsure. Two hours and many laughs later, that group is landing on the dock beaming with excitement, confidence, and awe for the environment they live in.

Let’s Do This Together!

As part of our Sea Trek Cares initiative with people like you, we’re teaming up with Oakland Goes Outdoors to break down barriers like cost, transportation, and access to gear, making outdoor adventures possible for every student.

It’s easy to make a difference in someone’s life. For $100, you can sponsor one student’s first paddle, and together, we can expand access to outdoor education and paddlesports. Your donation will help create memories, help build confidence, and foster a love and connection for the outdoors that will last a lifetime.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to get 500 students on the water. But if we exceed that goal, we won’t stop there—we’ll aim to reach even more students and continue to grow the program.

The Impact of Your Gift

Research shows that spending time outdoors, especially through paddlesports, offers children a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Improved focus and reduced stress
  • Better school attendance and enhanced academic performance
  • Greater confidence and teamwork skills

However, many children never have access to these life-changing experiences. The On the Water Project is designed to remove these barriers and open the door to paddlesports for kids who might otherwise miss out.

About Oakland Goes Outdoors

Founded in 2018, Oakland Goes Outdoors is committed to ensuring that all OUSD students benefit from time spent outdoors. Through partnerships with organizations like Sea Trek, they provide affordable, accessible opportunities for students to connect with nature. Last year alone, OGO ran 279 trips for nearly 6,400 students across 22 schools during the school year, and served another 1,000 students during summer programming.

How great is this!? With you helping! Thank you for being a paddler and enthusiast that cares!
